Sunbeam Tiger MK1 302 5.0L V8 1965 offered for sale. This is a Championship Winning car and offers of the most exhilirating driving experiences. From the moment you fire up the V8, its earth rumbling sound track fills the cabin and sets the tone for a truly spectacular drive. Engaging first gear and setting off is an event in itself—the sound, the smell, and the sheer sense of occasion this Tiger offers is like nothing else on the road.
The story of the Sunbeam Tiger is a beautifully complicated Anglo / American affair that has somewhat been forgotten over the last 60 years. The Sunbeam Tiger pairs sleek British sports car styling with raw American power. This particular example returned to the UK from South Africa in 1989 and has since built an impressive motorsport resume. It competed successfully throughout the 2000s securing titles such:
- 2005 Class A Joint Champion
- 2006 Sunbeam 3rd in the Championship and class A joint class champion
- 2007 Sunbeam Intermarque Championship winners, Class A Runner Up and Runner Up in Championship
- 2009 Sunbeam Intermarque Chamionship winners, Class A Runner Up and Runner Up in Championship.
- 2010 Sunbeam 3rd in Championship and Class A Runner Up.
In more recent years, although it has seen fewer races, the car has been lovingly maintained. Under the lightweight bonnet lies a 302ci (5.0L) engine built by David Henning Motorsport, complete with additonal upgrades and safety features, drive train and suspension setup. All of the safety equipment has been kept serviced, along with mechanical components. The car has undergone extensive recent investment, with over £20,000 spent in 2023 to ready it for classic car racing. Despite only being driven at a demo day at Castle Combe, the current owner has decided to sell due to ongoing back pain, making this a prime opportunity for a new owner to take over and enjoy immediately—whether on the track or the road. The original numbers matching 260 ci engine and ancillaries with two sets of Minilite wheels and tyres, plus seats are also available with separate negotiation.
This is a rare chance to own a piece of motorsport history—an iconic, race-proven British sports car that’s as thrilling to drive as it is to admire. A fantastic classic car collectible.
