Established in 1998, Barons is one of the UK’s oldest Classic Car auction houses, with an enviable and solid reputation forged through honesty, integrity and knowledge coupled with excellent customer service and a transparent business approach. The company celebrated its 25th Anniversary in August 2023.

The classic car market, like so many other business sectors, has evolved rapidly to an online approach over recent years. Barons offer an online auction platform to accommodate this and changes in customer behaviour and confidence. Smaller, more frequent auctions will be held to maximise buyer interest and sales opportunities.

Our premises is staffed by Tony, Gary and Molly, between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. We are now in our 25th year and are continuously making improvements to ensure our customers are provided with good quality service when buying or selling a vehicle with us. We value our customers and throughout the years have experienced a continuous growing range of customers through word of mouth and opinions from those who we have previously dealt with.
Unlike many of our competitors there are no hidden fees. When we sell your car, we issue payment in 6 working days.Our sellers commission is just 5% of the hammer price, plus the VAT and return the balance to you. The only other fee is the Entry Fee, which you pay up front. If we do not sell your car and provided that it has a reserve that reflects the market value, we offer an entry into the next sale, without a further fee. If you have three or more vehicles, to offer, we have special rates, which are very generous. We now offer a no reserve entry, so no reserve means no entry fee.
Not only do we hold your funds in a secure account client account, we issue payment in just 6 working Days. There is no reason for any auction house to hold onto your funds for any longer. We carry out all of the necessary checks, including an HPI check and still manage to pay in only 6 working days. Many houses will keep you waiting for at least a month and some keep your money for 90 days. We can do this because we do not accept anything but cleared funds. No vehicles leave us until the funds are in our bank. Barons do not operate any Accounts. Unlike many of our competitors, we do not accept payment by cheque. If your car is sold at Barons, it remains sold.
If you are a Buyer you are looking in the right place because we offer one of the lowest buyers premium in the UK. In terms of fees charged we are the least expensive of the serious players. The largest houses, where cars are just one aspect of the business, charge 15% on the first £50,000, others charge 15% across the board. Barons charge just 10%. Payment is faster and the service is professional but friendly.

We only sell vehicles. When we declare over 75% Sold it means we have sold over 7 out of 10 cars on offer, not 4 cars and 3 pieces of automobilia.
From Dec 2013 to Dec 2014 the Website catalogue received over 18.1 Million hits and was acclaimed as one of the most user friendly in the business. It is also in the top 10%, worldwide, for speed of operation and clarity.
We host a sale on the second Saturday of every month, which are held at our facility in Marchwood.
We pay our vendors in just 6 working days after the auction, via bank transfer. Funds are held in a secure, ring fenced, client account, which has been in place since the company was founded in 1998.
