Land Rover Series 1 1951 offered for sale, ex-military retaining its original army registration.
This series 1 80" was recently inspected by a military enthusiast, and it was found to be 98% original. The presents well, with a few minor non-original details. These include, some non-original screws, stainless rivets fitted to doors instead of aluminium, a modern relay and fuse, Nano hatches (not around when built), series 3 extra mirrors on the doors, the lights are all original but the headlight outer ring has been painted but this would clean off and the chrome will polish up.
The engine mounts are okay, the steering box needs adjusting, and as with vehicles of this age, there are some normal oil drips from the engine and gearbox. One of the standout features is the aluminium bulkhead, a rare component to find. There is surface rust is present but would clean off. The chassis also appears to be okay.
Inside, all of the instrument cluster and switches are all original, with an additional switch fitted for an interior light under the dash. A brand new cover has been fitted and the back internal wings/boot area is all orignal with no repairs. Overall, this Land Rover is in good condition for its age. It ahs a very good bas, is mostly original and is complete with a logbook. For its age, this is a good classic that could be made concourse over time.
