The Cortina was launched in September 1962. The car was designed to be economical, cheap to run and easy and inexpensive to produce in Britain. Originally it was called the Consul Cortina until 1964, when it was sold simply as the Cortina. The Cortina was available with 1200 and 1500 cc engines as two-door and four-door saloons, and five-door estate. Standard, Deluxe, Super, and GT trims were offered. A notable variant was the Ford Cortina Lotus.
A 1964 Ford Cortina 1500 Estate, which has been imported from Cyprus, and is in excellent original condition. It has a 4-speed column change gearbox and a front bench seat.
