Porsche introduced the 944 in 1982. The car had nearly even front to rear weight distribution thanks to the rear transaxle balancing out the engine. In 1985 there were first significant changes, a new dash and door panels, upgraded alternator, increased oil sump capacity, new front and rear suspension, larger fuel tank, optional heated and powered seats. For 1988 the 944 Motronic DME was updated, and newly incorporated anti-lock braking and air bags. In early 1989, the engine capacity increased to 2.7 L with a rated 162 hp, and a significant increase in torque.
This example is a 1986 Porsche 924 S which the vendor has owned since 2018. The car is described as being in very good to excellent condition all round. The vendor states that there are really only two faults with the car, the first being that the rear wiper doesn't work (a replacement wiper motor unit comes with the car) and the second fault is that the speedometer doesn't work. The interior is in excellent condition having been completely re-trimmed. The car was involved in an accident in 2011, the insurance company declared it a Category C repair, and the owner had it repaired with a new front wing, and continued to use it. There is a history folder which the vendor says is at least 2 inches thick, and he says the car is an excellent drive.
