WITHDRAWN The Mercedes R107 SL was introduced in 1971 and continued along the same basic design principals as the 113 Pagoda, but was a little bigger and a little bit wider. The disappearing hood mechanism, with the removable hard-top, remained and the engine options now included the 3.5 litre V8, which powered the new saloon range. The R107 SL was a hugely successful model, which remained in production for 18 years, largely unchanged. Engine options expanded to include a 2.8 and in 1986 a 3.0 straight six and V8's, which expanded to 5.6 litre by the end of the production run in 1989, when it was replaced by the new 129SL.
1983 Mercedes 280 SL that was purchased new by actress Sheila Hancock, and after a year it was purchased by the vendor's aunt, who has hardly driven it and kept it garaged ever since. It has had an annual trip to the local Mercedes dealership to have an MOT test and a service, and then has been returned back to the heated garage until the next year, except for the very rare odd occasion when it was used for a trip to the shops, and that really is all it has done,
The condition, as can imagined with such low mileage, really is first class with pretty much unmarked bright red bodywork and complimenting immaculate interior.
