1970 Morris Mini Cooper S described by the vendor as having been totally restored, with the body completely stripped and repaired. The rebuild was completed approximately 10 years ago, and was assembled wherever possible with stainless steel fixings. Primarily new parts were used, but when this was not possible, the parts were fully reconditioned.
Body conversions include Mk1 rear lights, front grille, bumpers, rear number plate fixing, 10 inch wheels and floor starter. Wood and Pickett wheel arches, new wiring loom, new switches and instruments. Full new interior and additional sound proofing. Updated leather seats and new carpets. John Cooper signature steering wheel and a custom binnacle for auxiliary instruments.
Fitted with a Richard Longman fast road 1380cc engine with omega pistons, built into a chemically cleaned and crack tested A+ block. Rolling road figures included. Rebuilt gearbox fitted by Longman at the time of the rebuild with new large competition SU carburettors and oil cooler. The engine has used Evans waterless Coolant from rebuild and is lubricated with Valvoline Racing VR1 20w50. The brakes are upgraded with Mini Spares 4 pot alloy disc brakes. It also has a classic large bore stainless steel Maniflow exhaust.
The car has only covered around 6,000 miles since restoration and has been used mainly in the dry. It comes with all MOTs since the restoration which confirm this mileage. There is a letter with the car that explains the chassis number. The A denotes a knock down kit (probably built in Dublin, Ireland) that was sent with a pre stamped chassis plate from the factory. Ideal for the 60 year celebration of the mini this year.
