Designed in the 1930s, the Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle was only produced in significant numbers from 1945. Later models were designated 1200, 1300, 1500, 1302 or 1303. It ultimately gave rise to variants, including the Karmann Ghia and Type 2. The Beetle marked a significant trend, led by Volkswagen, Fiat, and Renault, whereby the rear-engine, rear-wheel drive layout increased from 2.6 percent of continental Western Europe's car production in 1946 to 26.6 percent in 1956.
In the 1999 Car of the Century competition, to determine the world's most influential car in the 20th century, the Type 1 came fourth, after the Ford Model T, the Mini, and the Citroën DS.

This is a very original example of a Rallye Yellow Volkswagen 1303 Super Beetle. This is one of the most desirable Beetles, with the big back lights and the larger front screen. The car has had 2 owners from new, the last a lady owner for 42 years, and previously her husband who was a VW/Audi retailer in Surrey. The 40,700 mileage is believed to be correct, 8,913 plus original speedo 31,787, which is included. The car comes with the original logbook, service book, handbooks, and V5. It also comes with what are thought to be the original keys. A cut off switch has been fitted inside the glovebox.

The car had not been driven since it’s last MoT in 2010, and had been standing in a garage, until re-commissioning and a service was recently completed. This car is said to be in exceptional condition, and seems to have all its original body panels, all of which are outstanding. The interior, all the door cards, dash, headlining, seats, rubber floor mats and glass are stunning. All the mechanicals are very good, and the car is said to drive as you would expect a 40,000 mile to do. From 2005 to 2010 the car had 5 MoT tests, and did only 80 miles.

There is a Dropbox with lots of pictures and a short video of the engine running available: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/6u19579idgjvnd6/AAAU3QOpJ0IOLrWS-BTvxpCPa?dl=0
