The Corniche was available as coupé or convertible, and used the standard Rolls-Royce V8 engine. A three-speed automatic transmission was standard. A four-wheel independent suspension with coil springs was augmented with a hydraulic self-levelling system using the same system as Citroën, but without pneumatic springs. Four wheel disc brakes were specified, with ventilated discs added for 1972. A total of 1,090 Saloons, and 3,239 Convertibles were produced.
The Corniche Convertible offered here is described by the vendor as being in very good condition all round, with only four previous keepers over its lifetime. The vendor purchased the car from a Barons sale in 2017, and has since used the car to tour around England, Scotland, Ireland, and the south of France. It was then taken to New Zealand and driven around both the north and south island, before being returned to the UK. The vendor states that during all his trips the car was trouble free save regular fluid monitoring, and is a joy to drive.
Plenty of maintenance work has been carried out during the almost 3 years that the vendor has owned the car. Unfortunately the soft top got a tear while being shipped, and this has not yet been repaired. The car comes with its original handbook and tool kit. A rare opportunity to purchase one of these iconic convertibles ready for summer.
