In the second half of 1974 the MGB's chrome bumpers were replaced. A new, steel-reinforced black rubber bumper at the front incorporated the grille area as well, giving a major restyling to the B's nose, and a matching rear bumper completed the change. New US headlight height regulations also meant that the headlamps were now too low. Rather than redesign the front of the car, British Leyland raised the car's suspension by 1-inch. There were revisions to the suspension geometry in 1977, when a rear anti-roll bar was made standard equipment on all models.

A 1979 "garage find" MGB GT which has had 2 previous related lady owners, and seems to have done only 23,000 miles from new. The car has been stored since about 2002 in a house garage and is said to be structurally very sound. It is apparently fitted with a WD40 rust protection system which uses tyre pressure to squirt WD40 via plastic pipes to the underside of the car! In consequence the chassis is described as being almost as new. The car runs and drives, though it will need re-commissioning. The car will need painting, but the interior is described as being very good. This would seem to be a low mileage, low owner car which will be a very good car with a minimal outlay required for re-commissioning. Being sold without reserve.
