Production of the E24 series started in March 1976 with the 630 CS and 633 CSi. The bodies were manufactured by Karmann, but later taken in-house to BMW. In July 1978 a more powerful variant, the 635 CSi, was introduced with a special close-ratio 5-speed gearbox and a single piece black rear spoiler. The engine produced 218 bhp and had a better torque curve. In 1979 the carburetted 630 CS was replaced with the 628 CSi, this car had a fuel injected 2.8L engine taken from the BMW 528i. In 1982 there was in a major change as pre-1982 cars were based on the E12 5-series chassis; after mid-1982, E24s shared the improved E28 5-series chassis. The only parts that remained the same were some of the exterior body panels. 1989 was the last year for the E24 with production stopping in April.
This is a 1983 BMW 635 Csi Automatic finished in Sapphire Blue Metallic with Grey cloth interior. The vendor states that the car is in very good condition, with only time related marks on the interior and exterior. The mechanicals and electrics are said to be excellent, with even the sunroof working, which is unusual for one of these. There are new tyres on the front and very good ones on the rear. The car has a good amount of history, and it has only done 13,000 miles since 2006, though it has had nine MoT tests in this time, and in all those tests, the words rust and corrosion are never mentioned! These 635s are now rising rapidly in value, and this car represents tremendous value at its guided price.
